If you are seeking a new job and you do a quick google search, you will see a lot of information about interview preparation. A lot of the information is the same so I thought I would leverage my many years as a financial services headhunter to give you some uncommon interview tips

Consider who your interviewers will be and prepare stories, examples and numbers to demonstrate you’re experience. If you are meeting engineering managers for example, chances are that they will need demonstrable data or quantifiable examples of your work, but HR are likely to need competency based examples that may or may not be quantifiable.

Research the company’s values. Most companies will have this on their website. This is a good way of knowing what matters to a company and allow you to frame your answers to questions in a way that reflects those values (assuming that they resonate with you)

Think hard about what information you would need in order to be happy in the job an ask questions that allow you gather more information on these areas.

If your interviewers keep running out of time to complete interviews  with you, and you don’t make it past that interview round, then I hate to tell you this, but you are most likely doing too much talking. Try recording yourself on your phone and practice giving more concise answers.

Start with who you are rather than relying solely on what you have done. In a competitive job market where many people are theoretically able to do the job, your personality is what will help set you apart and align you with the right job and company.
